Studio Dress Code 2009/2010

We are asking parents to review the Lititz Academy of Dance Dress Code with their dancer. This dress code will be enforced! Students who show up to class without proper attire will be given a warning, the second time they will be asked to observe. Please note that hair is a crucial part of our dress code. (See "Hair" section of Dress Code.)

LAD reserves the right to change this policy at any time without prior notice. Any changes to the Studio Policies and Dress Code will be posted online and in the studio.

***Existing students who purchased new dance shoes for the 2008 recital may wear what they have. However, we are transitioning all Jazz students to the same tan jazz boot. When you need to purchase shoes, please purchase tan slip on Jazz boots in Capezio or Bloch.

Clothing
ALL BALLET/TAP COMBINATION CLASSES - any color and style of leotard and tights.

Ballet and Pointe
Girls:
Black leotards and pink tights. Ballet skirts, ballet sweaters and leg warmers are fine. Only Black camisoles may be worn over leotards. No “booty” shorts, please.

Boys:
White t-shirt, Black jazz pants or tights, Black Ballet Slippers

Lyrical, Tap and Jazz and Modern
Any color leotards and tights. Camisoles over leotards are fine. Jazz pants, legwarmers, ballet sweaters, “booty shorts”and ballet skirts are permitted. NO OTHER SHORTS OR BAGGY PANTS (INCLUDING THE WIDE-LEGGED GAUCHOS)!

Hip Hop and Boys’ Classes
Any comfortable, tasteful clothing.
PLEASE NOTE: CAP-SLEEVE SHIRTS, REGULAR SHORTS OR SWEATPANTS WITH DANCE LOGOS ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE!!! CAMISOLES AND TIGHT DANCE TOPS ARE THE ONLY ACCEPTABLE TOPS TO WEAR OVER LEOTARDS. (PLEASE CHECK WITH YOUR TEACHER IF IN QUESTION.) NO T’S OR TANK TOPS, PLEASE. TIGHTS SHOULD BE IN GOOD SHAPE, PLEASE. NO “SHREDDED” LOOKS ALLOWED!

Shoes

ALL BALLET/TAP COMBINATION CLASSES - will need both ballet and tap shoes.

Ballet
Pink split-sole ballet shoes such as Capezio Gold, Capezio Juliet, Bloch Split Sole, Bloch Prolite II, Sansha’s. Capezio Daisy beginner ballet shoes are fine for younger students.

Jazz
Tan Jazz Slip-On shoes - no laces, please! Capezio or Bloch preferred.

Tap
Bloch split-sole tap oxfords, Capezio Gold Split sole tap shoes, Leos Giordano Jazz Tap Shoe. For heels, any of the Capezio Footlights or Bloch Tap-Ons. For younger children – Capezio Junior Tyette with ELASTIC TIES.

(When purchasing metal taps, Tele-Tone taps and Duo-Tone heel taps are recommended.)

Pointe
Pointe students must be professionally fitted for pointe shoes. Pas De Chat has many brands and styles. Be prepared to spend about an hour being fitted for the correct shoe.

Lyrical / Modern
Half-soles, Dance Paws, Foot Thongs, Foot Undeez

Hip Hop
Dancesneakers

Hair / Jewelry
Hair for ALL dancers must be in a SECURE bun or ponytail. Short hair and long bangs MUST be kept neatly off the face. PLEASE NOTE – this is part of our mandatory dress code. Please no bracelets or dangling necklaces / earrings.
