Founder and Artistic Director Lisa Goeke Kalinowski began dance lessons as a small
child at the Mary Byrne School of Dance in her hometown of Rutland,
Vermont. She studied ballet, jazz and tap under the tutelage of Mary
Byrne and Sherry Adams, Founder and Artistic Director of the Vermont
Chamber Ballet Company and presently of the Adams School of Dance.
Lisa had the honor of being a founding member of the Vt. Chamber
Ballet Co., as well as the distinguishment of being the company's
youngest Principal Dancer at the age of 12. She continued her dance
training in the central Pennsylvania area under the wonderful Judy
Williams Henry, and later under John Kalina, Tina Stauffer and
Chevelle Vagnoni Klee of the Marie Shaw School of Dance in Reading,
PA, where she received her teacher training. Lisa went on to teach
in the school's Reading, West Lawn and Lebanon branches, as well as
managed the school's Hershey branch. After marrying Tony Kalinowski and moving to Central NY, Lisa taught for the Susan Alvarez School of Dance, where her passion for Lyrical became the emphasis in her teaching. She was a Principal Dancer and Assistant Choreographer for the Mix-'n-Motion Dance Company, performing at the Landmark Theatre, Civic Center, Sheraton, Three Rivers Inn and Waterfront Extravaganza. Lisa and her students performed in the New York Dance Olympics, Starpower, American Dance Awards and Rhee Gold Dance Competitions, winning many first place awards - both her students and herself, as well as an award for Outstanding Choreography. Following the birth of their sons Cody and Jordan, the Kalinowskis moved to Lancaster County. The Lititz Academy of Dance was founded in October 2002. Shortly thereafter, the CoJoMotion Dance Company, named after their beloved sons, came to fruition. Having a professionally - run dance company with passionate dancers - using their art for the benefit of others - is a dream come true for Lisa. CoJoMotion's signature event has become "A Season for Wishes", an annual holiday show to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Susquehanna Valley. Lisa adores her students, and loves teaching the 3 year olds right up through the adults. She feels incredibly blessed to have this wonderful school, and to be able to work with people she truly loves - people who love and respect dance, as well as children of all ages, as much as she does. Lisa continues her training through dance classes and seminars whenever possible - her favorite being her semi-annual classes with the Vermont Chamber Ballet Company. She also enjoys the Koresh Center in Philadelphia, as well as NYC's Steps and Broadway Dance Center. In addition, Lisa has had the honor of taking classes from such greats as Finis Jung, Noah Racey, Sean McCloud, Tony Bradford, Jeff Amsden, J.T., Elizabeth Parkinson, Karen Hebert, Joel Hodges, Sheila Barker, Ginger Cox, and many more. She hopes to bring all of the amazing lessons her 20 years of teaching experience ( and 30 plus years of dancing - not telling how many years the "plus" stands for!) have taught her, to HER students. In addition, she hopes to give to them the love and encouragement that Miss Mary gave her, the incredible ballet technique that Sherry taught her, the passion for performing that WAS Susan, and the inspiration that Chevelle continues to give her to this day. To these beloved mentors and friends, as well as to her parents, Doris and the late F. Richard Goeke, Lisa dedicates the Lititz Academy of Dance. |
